About the Department
Welcome to the website of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Curtin University of Technology, Bentley campus, Western Australia.
The Mission of our Department is to offer our students a high quality education, with a sound technology base, and which engenders a broad awareness of social, cultural and ethical issues together with a sound understanding of the role of engineering in the community and business environment, and which leads to an internationally recognised degree.
Our challenge is the creation of a motivational, supportive, efficient and inclusive learning environment that harnesses the ability, creativity and initiatives of our students, and one which addresses the tremendous diversity in our student group, by catering to individual student needs.
The teaching of the Department's curriculum is given authority by its very strong research performance and industry involvement and interaction. The research activities is focused in its research centres and groups, which include the Communications and Signal Processing Group (CSP), Communications Technology Research Group (CTRG), Research Institute of Sustainable Energy (RISE) and the Instrumentation Research Group (IRG).
Key research partnerships include those with the Australian Cooperative Research Centre for Renewable Energy (ACRE), and the Western Australian Telecommunications Research Institute (WATRI).
The Department is also an authorised Cisco Networking Academy. The Department has a professional technical support team which are able to support students. Facilities include a PCB production facility, central workshop, IT support and electrical workshop.
